How to find a spare with Haxis
Short a player? Request a spare from the game card, choose who to ask, and pick from the curlers who volunteer.

Someone’s sick, the babysitter cancelled, the lead is stuck at work. Here’s how to fill the spot without texting half the club.
Asking for a spare
- In the Haxis app, open your game on My Games.
- Tap Request a spare.
- Choose how many you need (up to two, or one for mixed doubles), the position, and add a short note if it helps (“Lead, we throw out-turn heavy!”).
- Choose who to ask: All club members, or just your league or bonspiel. Haxis shows how many people it will notify before you send.
- Tap Send.
Curlers who are playing at the same draw aren’t asked, so you only reach people who can actually make it.
Picking your spare
Volunteers show up on the request as they put their hand up. It isn’t first come, first served: look at who has offered and tap Accept on the one you want.
Once you accept someone, you each get the other’s email so you can sort out the details: rocks, sweeping, where to meet.
Quiet so far? You can Request a spare again every two hours. If the game time changes, Haxis tells your volunteers.
Offering to spare
Want more games? When a team near you needs a spare, you’ll get a notification. Open it and tap I can spare, with a note if you like. Changed your mind? Withdraw my offer.
Everything you’ve offered for is under Profile → Spares, with a badge when something needs your attention. When you spare, your rocks count toward your own stats.
Spare notifications go to the Android and iPhone apps. Turn them on under Notification settings.
